BAR  BENDING SCHEDULE OF FOOTING.

In this article, we are going to explain to you how to find the bar bending schedule (bbs) of footing.

In this structural Drawing, A Top Plan of footing is given and a section is cut from either side

Here A bars are main bars of Diameter 12mm spacing= 150mm c/c

Firstly we have to find out the cutting length of the main bar

Step 1:-cutting length of A bars = 1200[-(50+50)] (subtracting 50mm covers both side)

 =1100 mm or 1.1m

Add bend length of both side  = 1.1+01+0.1

 = 1.3m

On-site if we make Bar Bending Schedule of Footing we will have to do some deductions as if we bend a bar 90º then the bar will get stretched so we have to deduct the stretched part i.e, 2D from both sides.

Here D = Diameter of Bar = 2 x 12=24mm from both side.

=1.3-0.024-0.024=1.252m

Step 2:- No of Bars:- opposite length(-covers)/spacing+1

                                      = 1500-(50+50)/150+1

                                      =1400/150+1=10.33 nos.

Step 3:- the unit weight of Bar = D²/162

                                            = 12×12/162=0.888Kg/m

Step 4:- Total weight = cutting length × No. of Bars × unit weight

                                      = 1.252m ×10.33 × 0.888

                                      = 11.484 kg of Bars are used

Here B bars are Distribution bars of Diameter 12mm spacing = 150mm c/c

Now  we have to find out cutting length of Distribution bars i.e. B bars

Step 1:-cutting length of B bars = 1500[-(50+50)] (subtracting 50mm covers both side)

 =1400 mm or 1.4m

Add bend length of both side  = 1.4+01+0.1

 = 1.6m

Here also On site if we make Bar Bending Schedule of Footing then we will have to do some deductions as if we bend a bar 90º then the bar will get stretched so we have to deduct the stretched part i.e, 2D from both side.

Here D = Diameter of Bar = 2 x 12=24mm from both side.

=1.6-0.024-0.024

=1.552m

Step 2:- No of Bars:- opposite length(-covers)/spacing+1

                                      = 1200-(50+50)/150+1

 =1100/150+1= 8.33 nos.

Step 3:- the unit weight of Bar = D²/162

                                            = 12×12/162=0.888Kg/m

Step 4:- Total weight = cutting length × No. of Bars × unit weight

 = 1.552m ×8.33 × 0.888

 = 11.48 kg of Bars are used.
